‘Uncommon’ Film Trailer

The flapper skate, once known as the common skate, is the world’s largest skate and lives in British and Irish waters. These giants can grow 8 feet long and live for over 50 years, as an apex predator they have a key role to play in the marine  ecosystem. The once ‘common’ name echoes a sombre note as these animals find themselves now teetering on the edge. Categorised as Critically Endangered on the IUCN RedList, their peril surpasses even that of the magnificent blue whale or the polar bear.

‘Uncommon’ dives into the work of scientists and conservationists striving to help save this vital species from the brink of extinction.
