‘Uncommon’ Film

The flapper skate, once known as the common skate, is the world’s largest skate and lives in British and Irish waters. These giants can grow 8 feet long and live for over 50 years, as an apex predator they have a key role to play in the marine  ecosystem. The once ‘common’ name echoes a sombre note as these animals find themselves now teetering on the edge. Categorised as Critically Endangered on the IUCN RedList
